New USAW Bylaws and Constitution Committee PLEASE VOTE!!

From Rachel Hearn, nominee for Bylaws and Constitution Committee

Dear Athletes and Peers of USAW:

I have submitted my name for consideration in selection of the newly formed USAW Bylaws and Constitution committee, and I am requesting that you take the time to vote, and vote for me.

My experience in the sport has been extensive, with a
career that has lasted nearly 14 years, 10 of those
competing nationally and internationally as an elite
athlete for the sport of weightlifting. I have competed at the schoolage, junior, senior, collegiate, and international levels for USAW.

I currently serve on two USAW Board of Director
Committees, appointed by my athlete peers at the 2004
Athlete Congress. I have experienced the repercussions, as a result of bringing forth athletes’ issues, asking difficult questions of the current BOD and administration, and have even been reprimanded for bringing the athlete’s concerns to the forefront.

If I am chosen for this position, I will dedicate myself to the betterment of USAW in the pursuit of writing fair and just Bylaws and new Constitution, where the athlete’s input and best interest will be foremost.

I will maintain good communication with the athletes and members, give updates, and bring all realistic input to the committee for consideration. I will do my very best to assure all issues are addressed, and if possible, included in the writing of the bylaws. I want to truly be the voice for YOU, the athlete.

I have established an email account for the sole purpose of communicating with the USAW membership: hearnicane@gmail.com
Please do not hesitate to contact me!

I have witnessed conflicts of interest, and bias by various members of USAW and past governing, but I can assure that I will represent an objective, unbiased voice for USAW Athletes and Members. As an athlete I have maintained my status as Unattached for over 7 years, which I feel further helps with my objectivity, so I will not be influenced by one party, region, or group of individuals.

Additionally, I earned my Bachelors Degree of Science
in Business, (emphasis in Marketing), and maintain a
solid understanding of Business Law, Finance, and a
high standard of Business Ethics. At my educational
institution, I served on the Student Selection
Committee for the appointment of the Administrative
President of the University (2004).

My past experience and education, combined with my
motivation to provide USAW members with a just constitution
and bylaws, makes me a prime candidate for the
position.

I can represent a wide demographic of the sport,
provide feedback in a timely manner, and accurately
represent the Athlete's point of view.

Thank you for your consideration in this matter, and again, please VOTE!!

Send votes no later than Wed March 26, 2008.

Sincerely,
Rachel C. Hearn
